Meet michael

Michael has been repairing brass and woodwind instruments since he was a teenager, working as an apprentice in Davenport, Iowa. He studied Band Instrument Repair at Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City before coming to Wichita in 1999, and he has never looked back.

Having spent nearly 17 years at Wichita Band Instrument Company specializing in brass and woodwind repair and restoration, Michael is a well-versed technician.  He spent extensive time working with Paxman Musical Instruments and Gebr. Alexander learning the finer points of brass and French horn repair.  More notably, Michael has personally restored many antique musical instruments including over a dozen Adolph Sax saxophones.

In addition to overseeing the repairs of fine professional instruments, Michael has spent several years devoted to the care of school-age musicians and their instruments. As a proud supporter of local arts, he has a heart for serving students in Wichita and the surrounding areas, including Kansas’ largest school district, USD 259.

Michael cares about not just the quality of his work- he cares about the relationship he has with each client, striving to meet their individual needs.  He serves a diverse population of educators and students from public and private schools, university professors and students, local and regional symphonic musicians, and many local musicians, both professional and amateur.  With over twenty-six years of experience restoring, modifying, and repairing brass and woodwind instruments, Michael plays a crucial role in the Wichita music community.
